"Ponda"

'For me it was time to pay tribute to several people who made of me the musician I became'

Cet album correspond veritablement a mon parcours.
l'enregistrant.

Ponda means time.
For me it was time to pay tribute to several people who made of me the musician I became.
This is why artists like the Brazilian Tania Maria, the Senegalese Hady Diallo, the Congolese
Samba Ngoh and of course, my father Francis Bebey were naturally mixed.
I first learned classical piano and am delighted to have been able to record a 16-string ensemble
conducted by Line Kruse.
And then I felt the need to transmit the witness to the new generation, represented by Djeudjoah.
He filled me with joy by interpreting lyrics he had written in French on the song "Ponda".
This title mixes pygmy flute and rap with afro electro sounds.
In the song "Descente" co-composed with the Swiss singer Noga, starting from the assiko rhythm
of Cameroon, I decided to electrify my sanza and add a distortion (I also grew up listening to the
Beatles and the Stones).
This album really corresponds to my career.
When you listen to it, I wish you to feel the happiness we had while recording it.
